San Sisto Wins UQ Chemical Analysis Competition

A team of twelve enthusiastic chemistry students recently went to the St Lucia campus of the University of Queensland to compete in the 2017 Chemical Analysis competition.  Four teams of three girls battled it out with more than twenty other teams from schools around Brisbane in the Chemistry Building.  Students had to use chemical analysis techniques to accurately find the concentration of a solution.  Even with breaking glassware, stands collapsing and solutions being spilt, we performed to an excellent standard with several girls obtaining near perfect individual results.

Results for one team were however the best on the day and Brooke Jay, Mika Sato and Lucy Quach won first place and are now eligible to compete in the State competition in October.  Other team members were Maria Harris, Isabeau Lawer, Katy Quach, Brianna Barron, Kiana Heath, Tayla Heath, Sabrina Gregory, Loren Toten, Bailey Kelly and Catherine Adams.
