Congratulations to Aliesha Buckley, who has been selected as a 2021 Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) Student Ambassador. There was a very competitive application process, with only 20 students from across Queensland selected for the ambassador role.
Aliesha was nominated for this position by her Physics teacher for dedication to her studies, her strong leadership skills partnered with her role as the 2021 Community Captain, her interest in a future career as a Civil Engineer paired with an understanding of the opportunities and pathways offered in the resources sector in Queensland.
As part of her role, Aliesha will participate in a number of QMEA activities, across her senior year, that will increase her understanding of the resources sector, develop her leadership skills and be provided with opportunities for networking with other students and industry representatives.
Over the school holidays, Aliesha will attend the Ambassador Camp and the QMEA Ambassador Breakfast to begin her role as Ambassador. Aliesha will also attend the Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ) International Women’s Day Breakfast to be held in March, with further networking opportunities as the school’s Ambassador.
As a school community, we are very proud of Aliesha’s success and wish her all the best in her new role as the 2021 QMEA Student Ambassador.
